the push or the drive switches.Ī 4x12? a 2x12? try all of them and see what sounds like. > the song needs a little drive? push the gain, try the amp drive switch. just few things.īut normally if you want to start creating your OWN preset. because normally i use the sgear presets. Maybe im not the one to give the best tips. My apologies if I missed it- please just point me to the other thread. I looked through the S-Gear Forum to see if someone else asked this question, but if so, I wasn't able to find it. I don't know if others would find this kind of topic helpful, but I sure would (I'd hope so- I posted it). There are just too many variables- where to start? It would be great to see some different approaches, perhaps described in flow chart terms, so those of us who want to dive in can follow along at home. I'm sure some people will just say "follow your ears," but that's not particularly helpful when dealing with this kind of complexity. What do you dial in first? What comes next? What factors do you need to consider in terms of how different variables interact? When do you consider things like "Sag" and "Hi-Cut?"

I just need some guidance on how to go about building a preset. It gives us immense control and flexibility, especially with the "family" approach to amp modeling that Mike uses. Can we start a thread about the process people are using to develop presets? There are a LOT of variables in S-Gear. I might get lucky, but I'm just as likely to end up with a mess. The problem is, I've never been good at creating presets.

Now that I've invested in S-Gear & MainStage 3 (S-Gear, MS3, Scarlett 2i4, FCB1010 UNO, MacBook Pro), I'd like to start customizing presets and maybe even develop my own. Things got a lot simpler when I quit modeling gear altogether and just used a Hot Rod Deluxe with an AnalogMan King of Tone, but that setup gave me considerably less flexibility (and considerably more hernias). I tried to do this several years ago when I had a Line6 POD HD500, but I wasn't systematic about it, and I ended up with a mess. Now I'd like to take a shot at building some new presets. I'm continuing to enjoy S-Gear, and the wide variety of tones available.
